Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA) staff will be returning on May 25, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. (or as close to this time as possible) to recommend that the Board of Directors accept the Placer County Rural Transit Study Final Report as complete and as a basis for evaluating unmet transit needs for rural Placer County. Background
Over multiple years, numerous comments on rural transit needs have been received and considered by PCTPA. PCTPA commissioned the Placer County Rural Transit Study recognizing that there are transportation needs beyond existing transit services. The Placer County Rural Transit Study considered a wide range of potential transit strategies to serve rural areas. In March 2016 the Board conducted a public workshop on the Rural Transit Study, which provided an opportunity for public input and direction on developing a preferred set of transit strategies to improve mobility for many rural residents. Six strategies show promise and are being recommended by for implementation as demonstration service(s). Please note, there is no specific timeline or sequence for implementation of the Rural Transit Study recommendations. Placer County and partnering jurisdictions would need to prioritize the recommended transit strategies as part of their overall annual service planning and budget process.
