Regional Project Of the Year
The South Placer Transit Information Center earned the distinction of “Regional Project of the Year” for 2013 from
the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) “SACOG Salutes” annual awards program.
The South Placer Transit Information Center serves over 345,000 residents in South Placer County by providing a consolidated point of contact for five transit operators at a single phone number in both the 530 and 916 area codes. The Information Center provides the public the information they need to make the transit trip they want. That includes everything from information on routes, fares, and transfer points, to how to plan trips, purchasing passes, and information on bringing a bicycle on-board. The website features a tutorial video on how to ride public transit, while those calling in will get a live operator housed in Roseville to talk them through their transit needs. Ultimately, the service has provided better customer service to transit riders making public transit in south Placer County an enjoyable experience that is convenient and seamless.
Congratulations to all the partner agencies and the South Placer Transit Information Center staff for their hard work!
Vice Mayor Scott Yuill (City of Rocklin), Vice Mayor Carol Garcia (Roseville), PCTPA Executive Director Celia McAdam, PCTPA Board members Susan Rohan (City of Roseville) and Jim Holmes (Placer County), Rich Frost (MV Transportation), PCTPA Board Member Sandra Calvert (Town of Loomis), and Mike Wixon (City of Roseville) were on hand to accept the award on December 12, 2013 in Sacramento.
