For commuters in Placer County, PCTPA acts as a transportation resource guide by offering services and information to those persons interested in using alternative commute modes. Companies and individuals can all benefit by ridesharing – carpooling, vanpooling, and using public transportation. Other alternatives such as biking, walking or telecommuting can also help to save time and money, as well as improve air quality and reduce traffic.
PCTPA’s Congestion Management Program (CMP) is an alternative transportation outreach effort designed to improve air quality and make maximum use of existing transportation systems. Through its CMP, PCTPA provides incentives to commuters who use alternative transportation and who participate in PCTPA’s Alternative Transportation Programs. The CMP also focuses on marketing all public transit services in Placer County as a coordinated, integrated alternative transportation solution.
The following alternative transportation programs are available through the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency’s Congestion Management Program:
Bucks for Bikes: If you are employed in Placer County, you could be eligible for up to $200 toward a new commute bicycle of your choice.
Spare the Air for Bucks: The Spare the Air for Bucks program awards cash and prizes to individuals who use alternative transportation modes. Monthly prizes include either $150 cash, a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com or Target, or both during July, August, and September.
Summer Youth Bus Pass: Kids in south Placer County can get all around town with the Summer Youth Bus Pass. The $10 pass is available to kids in elementary through high school, and is good for unlimited rides on Auburn Transit, Lincoln Transit, Placer County Transit, and Roseville Transit.
Way to Go!: The Way to Go Program is a road sense project that fosters safer, healthier travel alternatives for elementary middle, and high school students. The goal of the Way to Go Program is to encourage and enable more students and their parents to walk, bike, carpool, or take public transportation.
